WHO WE ARE

The Compassion in Action Foundation encourages kindness and compassion towards all living beings. We actively work to end the suffering of animals.

We conduct animal cruelty investigaions. We have a network of foster homes. We rescue, foster, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for unwanted abandoned, and/or abused/injured animals.

(We are NOT a kennel.)

FEATURED COMPANION ANIMALS:

AUDREY

My name is Audrey Hepburn. I NEED A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!

I am a beautiful medium sized Beagle dog (approx. 35 pounds). I'm around 2 years old. I love people, I get along with other dogs that I know, especially larger dogs.I usually get freaked out and upset by smaller dogs, so it'd be best if I didn't have to live with one. I've had a hard life so far, but I am kind , gentle and....downright ADORABLE!!!

I REALLY enjoy sunning myself on nice days. I can be snuggly. I walk well on a leash. Oh, and I am crate trained and leash trained. I have energy to run and play and go for long walks! I also like to just curl up and snuggle. I LOVE being outdoors and inside with you. I'm a happy girl! Please adopt me!

My foster mom says I'm a beautiful, sweet, loving, socialized girl. She says I have a FABULOUS personality, am sugary sweet and spunky too. I LOVE giving kisses.

It's true! I am very sweet! I need a kind, loving, home, with someone to love me and give me kisses and hugs and to take proper care of me! I need a friend to explore the world with, someone who will love me forever.

-----

Note from Compassion in Action:

Well, Audrey did a good job describing herself. She's a sweet little beagle girl and we've grown VERY fond of her. She's just precious! We want her to have a good home, where she will be adored and pampered. She LOVES the outdoors, mostly on nice days. We do require an adequately fenced yard for her and someone who will walk her on a leash every day and love her. :-)

Audrey has been through a lot. She had to go through months of heartworm treatment and has been spayed and fully vaccinated. She is VERY healthy. We have her on monthly heartworm preventatives and monthly flea preventatives. She has learned that it is fun to lay in the grass and roll. She's a FABULOUS dog and is a WONDERFUL, devoted companion. She LOVES to walk on a leash and see the world.

Interested in adopting sweet, loving Audrey? Who could blame you! She's a real catch!!! Contact us soon!

KINDLY email us at: CompassionAction@aol.com

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Adopting a dog, cat, or other type of pet is one of the most fun and rewarding experiences you could ever have. However, adoption is a big commitment! It is important to think the decision over very carefully, keeping in mind that adopting a pet is a 10 to 20 year commitment. Our adoption process emphasizes this commitment. We try to slow things down a bit so that potential adopters have time to be sure they are ready for a new pet. Our adoptions take place in a 4 step process:

1) Adopter fills out an application, which includes providing references. NOTE: We require a veterinary reference and personal references. You MUST have a adequately fenced in yard to adopt a dog. We do not adopt out animals outside our local area in North Carolina.

2) An adopter makes arrangements to visit the pet he/she thinks they would like to adopt .

3) We do a home inspection ("HOME CHECK"). If an application is approved, we STRONGLY encourage you to first foster the animal, to make sure he/she is the right animal for you and your home.

4) After a week or two of fostering (if you choose to foster first), adoption is the next step! An adoption agreement is signed. The adoption fee is $100.00-$225.00 for dogs and $75.00 for mixed-breed cats (but MAY VARY, depending on the animal). We may have to charge a higher adoption fee for some animals due to their veterinary bills (we do rescue from puppy and kitty "mills", where the animals are in horrendous condition when we get them. Our vet bills are usually up in the thousands!!). Thank you for understanding. We rely soley on the kindness of your donations.

Everything we do is in the best interest of the individual animals we help. Therefore, we reserve the right to deny adoption by any party we feel would not provide a suitable home. "Suitable" is based solely on the Compassion in Action Foundation's experience and judgment. Everything this organization does is based on the individual animals' happiness and well being.

TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL YOU MUST SIGN A CONTRACT AND TO HAVE THE ANIMAL SPAYED OR NEUTERED WITHIN 30 DAYS, IF THEY ARE NOT ALREADY ALTERED.

You must supply us with documentation from a vet noting that the animal was altered.

We REALLY appreciate your cooperation with our adoption procedures.

Please help Compassion in Action Foundation care for the animals caught in the crisis of homelessness and suffering.
