FEATURED COMPANION ANIMALS:

DOLLY

My name is Dolly. I am beautiful. I was rescued after being brutally attacked by a bear in the mountains of NC. I am approx. 8 years young, a Beagle-ish mix. I have miraculously healed from all my injuries!!! I have had all my shots, I've been de-wormed, spayed, I've had my pretty teeth cleaned and I'm even on monthly heart worm prventative. I've come a long way. Oh, and I am VERY well behaved. I'm a loving dog who needs a family to love me and spoil me rotten. I really deserve it, after all that I've been through. Please adopt me. I promise to love you. Love, Dolly

SIMON SIAMESE

This beautiful Chocolate Point Siamese male cat was rescued from the cold outdoors. He was abandoned outside of a restaurant with just a bowl of water. He is a very beautiful older adult cat, obviously once someone's beloved pet. Unfortunately he had no microchip or collar and ID tag, so we have no way of locating his former guardians. :-(

Simon Siamese was quite thin and very hungry, so we're feeding him frequent meals.

This cat is neutered, litter box trained, EXTREMELY friendly, loving and very handsome. His previous guardians had him front and rear de clawed.

Simon Siamese is Feline Leukemia and FIV NEGATIVE. He has had his rabies and annual vaccinations. Simon had BADLY infected gums and some bad teeth, which were causing him a lot of pain and preventing him from being able to eat.! Our vet had to perform oral surgery, removing several of Simon's rotting teeth. She also cleaned his remaining teeth and placed him on pain medication and antibiotics. She thinks Simon is around 10 years old. He is a VERY sweet, loving, mellow cat, with many happy years left in him.

Simon LOVES sleeping on the end of the bed, adores some canned food, love and tummy rubs. He loves being petted and spoken to. Of course, being a Siamese, he will talk back! Simon is a very sweet, loving, mellow guy.

If you adore Siamese cats, Simon will make a very wonderful addition to your family. Please consider letting Simon into your heart and home.

Contact CompassionAction@aol.com for an adoption application.

UPDATE: 4/18/2008

It is with a sad heart that I write this. Simon began urinating huge amounts of very clear urine, several times outside the litter box. I IMMEDIATELY took him to our fabulous cat veterinarian today and she performed an ultrasound, urinalysis, blood work, etc. on Simon Siamese to see what was going on. Simon is in very early stage renal (kidney) disease. I was quite broken-hearted. But the vet says that Simon is NOT suffering. This is extremely important to Compassion in Action, as we work very hard to end animal suffering!

Our vet says that Simon needs to eat a special food. She says that with a physical exam every 6 months, and proper care, he could live a long life.

Simon DESERVES to live out of his life loved, comfortable, with consistent, top quality veterinary care and a loving caretaker to see him through the rest of his life. And to rub behind his ears, just the way he likes it. We refuse to give up on this old, sweet cat! :-)

When I look at Simon, I see an old, sweet, loving kitty who was discarded like a piece of trash. Simon deserves to experience old age in a loving, caring environment. with your help I am willing to take on this responsibility.....

Please adopt Simon. If you cannot adopt, consider sponsoring Simon with a one-time or monthly donation. If you like, you can donate DIRECTLY TO SIMON'S VETERINARIAN. You can specify your donation for "Simon Siamese"..

Simon's vet is:

THE SOUND CAT VETERINARY HOSPITAL

7775 MARKET STREET

WILMINGTON, NC 28411

Donations of ANY amount will be used conservatively and are truly, profoundly and most gratefully appreciated. Please help us help Simon live out his golden years in a loving comfortable environment, free from pain and suffering.

PLEASE HELP SIMON!

Thank you so very much.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Adopting a dog, cat, or other type of pet is one of the most fun and rewarding experiences you could ever have. However, adoption is a big commitment! It is important to think the decision over very carefully, keeping in mind that adopting a pet is a 10 to 20 year commitment. Our adoption process emphasizes this commitment. We try to slow things down a bit so that potential adopters have time to be sure they are ready for a new pet. Our adoptions take place in a 4 step process:

1) Adopter fills out an application, which includes providing references. NOTE: We require a veterinary reference and personal references. You MUST have a adequately fenced in yard to adopt a dog. We do not adopt out animals outside our local area in North Carolina.

2) An adopter makes arrangements to visit the pet he/she thinks they would like to adopt .

3) We do a home inspection ("HOME CHECK"). If an application is approved, we STRONGLY encourage you to first foster the animal, to make sure he/she is the right animal for you and your home.

4) After a week or two of fostering (if you choose to foster first), adoption is the next step! An adoption agreement is signed. The adoption fee is $100.00-$225.00 for dogs and $75.00 for mixed-breed cats (but MAY VARY, depending on the animal). We may have to charge a higher adoption fee for some animals due to their veterinary bills (we do rescue from puppy and kitty "mills", where the animals are in horrendous condition when we get them. Our vet bills are usually up in the thousands!!). Thank you for understanding. We rely soley on the kindness of your donations.

Everything we do is in the best interest of the individual animals we help. Therefore, we reserve the right to deny adoption by any party we feel would not provide a suitable home. "Suitable" is based solely on the Compassion in Action Foundation's experience and judgment. Everything this organization does is based on the individual animals' happiness and well being.

TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL YOU MUST SIGN A CONTRACT AND TO HAVE THE ANIMAL SPAYED OR NEUTERED WITHIN 30 DAYS, IF THEY ARE NOT ALREADY ALTERED.

You must supply us with documentation from a vet noting that the animal was altered.

We REALLY appreciate your cooperation with our adoption procedures.

Please help Compassion in Action Foundation care for the animals caught in the crisis of homelessness and suffering.
